4th International Teardrop Gathering

Gathering of Teardroppers from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia

June 16-19, 2011
Pioneer Village - Minden, Nebraska

The 4th International Teardrop Gathering is returning to Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska. This location is equally accessible by enthusiasts from the east and west coasts. Minden and the surrounding area has some great attractions, and Pioneer Village has suitable campgrounds with plenty of space, and a most enthusiastic and cooperative staff.

You need not have a teardrop trailer to attend this gathering, just a love, fascination or curiosity for teardrop trailers. It is open to all forms of campers. Car campers, tent campers, popup campers, motorcycle campers, travel trailers, housetucks, buses, motor homes. New, old, vintage, homebuilt, self built, manufactured. Drive in, bicycle in, fly in, walk in. You get the idea. All are welcome.

The main campground will be reserved for teardrop trailers first. It is after all, a teardrop gathering! Remaining space will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. The street just to the north of the campground and the primitive area across the street from the main campground will be available as well. Just FYI, your ITG host George, has camped in the primitive area for all of the previous ITG gatherings.

With this being said. Come on down! Grab a seat by the campfire and join us. We'd love to get to know you!

George

About Pioneer Village - Minden, Nebraska

"For thousands of years man lived quite simply. Then like a sleeping giant our world was awakened. In a mere hundred and twenty years...man progressed from open hearth, grease lamps and ox carts to television, super sonic speed, and atomic power," said Harold Warp, the founder of Pioneer Village - Minden, Nebraska, "We have endeavored to show you the actual development of this astounding progress as it unfolded..." And does it ever!

You can re-live America's Golden Yesterdays through the largest private collection of Americana in existence. The Pioneer Village complex includes 28 buildings on 20 acres housing over 50,000 irreplaceable items of historical value, re-stored to operating order, arranged in groups and also in the chronological order of their development.

There are 12 historic buildings around the circular "green". There's a Frontier Fort, a real honest-to-goodness Pony Express Station, an Iron Horse, and a home made of sod. Plus a general store and a toy store, chock full of all the goods from yesteryear. An original art collection including 25 Currier and Ives prints, 23 Jackson paintings, and the largest single collection of Rogers statues.

You can ride a priceless steam carousel, see 17 historic flying machines and marvel at 100 antique tractors. See a 1902 Cadillac and a 1903 Ford, both designed by Henry Ford, plus 350 other antique cars.

It's a relaxing trip into yesterday, a perfect companion to a large gathering of teardrop trailers, themselves  Americana incarnate!

The $9.00 two-day admission for PV is good for all four days for ITG participants!

Facilities
The Pioneer Village - Minden, Nebraska

(PV) complex boasts three era-perfect motels, providing about 85 available rooms. The Village Restaurant seats 350 people, serving "fine foods for fastidious folks at popular prices." There is also a snack bar serving coffee, ice cream, candy, soft drinks and sandwiches.

The Campground is a part of the Pioneer Village complex in Minden, Nebraska and includes 50 compact developed sites, each capable of snugly supporting two teardrops. (Yes, we'll all know our neighbors well by the time we leave!) If we double up, more people can enjoy this lovely grassy, treed campground. (Sharing is highly encouraged.)

All sites in the main campground have water and power. There are limited restrooms and showers, so the Village is also opening several motel rooms for restroom and shower use only to ITG participants. Additional portable toilets will be brought in.

Across the street from the main campground is the Primitive camping area with several "community" water spigots available, limited electrical access, some trees, no designated sites, but capable of supporting 50 or more teardrops/trailers.

The street behind the campground will be reserved for the larger T@B trailers and the back street behind the Pioneer Village buildings is also available to us. Note: Bring sun shelters for this area as the afternoon sun can be quite intense! If you use "EZ-Up" type shelters, make provisions [sandbags/weight] to hold down your shelter as the street is concrete.

We have reserved the large meeting room under the motel on Friday and Saturday for potlucks, presentations, workshops, and  other planned activities. If you have any good ideas, or wish to run an activity, contact George.

Minden, Nebraska is a small Midwestern town - a quiet, lovely place - that can truly evoke memories of times past. These folks understand "Teardrop Time"! The Pioneer Village complex lies within the Minden city limits, and therefore NO OPEN FIRES will be allowed at any time for any reason. Barbecues are okay, as are Dutch Ovens, as long as a fire pan is used to contain the charcoal briquettes.

For those people who really like to sit around a camp fire in the evening, even when it's not cold... You Can! Just make sure to bring a fully enclosed patio fire pit something like this:

EnclosedMetalFire

This event is being PLANNED AROUND an EARLY PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE. There are only 50 (100 if everyone doubles up
) camp sites in the Main Campground. PV will reserve a half or whole space in your name.

When the main Campground is full, PV will reserve spaces in the Primitive Area (limited electricity). You will choose your space as you arrive (i.e. first-come, first-served).

If you can't register by May 31, but think you'll probably be attending, call us at 1-308-832-2211 before June 7. It's important that we have as accurate a count of attendees as possible by that date, to help George with his preparations. Late registrations will begin at the event in Minden on June 16th.

ITG Event T-Shirts, Ball Caps, Visors and Aprons
The T-shirts are stylish ash-colored short-sleeved Henleys with a full-color logo on the back and a one-color logo on the left front. Pre-order all shirts with your Pre-Registration. A very few T-shirts of various sizes will be available at the event for late registrants. You'd better grab 'em fast, while they last.

There will also be limited quantities of baseball caps, visors and aprons available during the gathering.

Regional TD Tours to ITG!

Several ITG teardrop tours/caravans are already being planned. Contact your Regional Rep for the closest one to your area. Some will be fast-paced and some will be slow-paced, but they all will be a blast! Nothing compares to traveling with a group of teardroppers!

Regional Representatives
Regional representatives have volunteered to field questions and help you locate tours, so please make good use of them. This way we can let George concentrate on organizing the event itself!
